June Meeting: Elections/Open-mic

The June meeting is only two weeks away! Please mark your calendars for June 8, 2009 and plan to attend. Forward this e-mail to anyone else who may want to attend. Meetings are open to the public.

VOCAL Monthly Meeting
Monday, June 8, 2009
Roundhouse at Byrd Park www.vocalsongwriter.org/meeting.html

7:00 - 7:30 Executive Committe - all are welcome
7:30 - 9:30 Board Elections & In-house Open-mic

Bring your guitars or any other instruments (amplification not provided) and share your music with VOCAL. Whether dusting off a classic or getting feedback on a new song, share your music with the group. CD's can also be played for pre-recorded music or backing tracks.

The first business that will be addressed at the meeting will be electing board members for 2009/2010. See 'VOCAL's Board' in this e-mail for a re-print of the May article concerning the board structure. We have great folks filling the positions of our board, but if you have a nomination in mind or just want to attend and offer your thoughts, come out in time for the elections.

If you would like to offer any input on the elections prior to the meeting, you can contact any of the board members through the VOCAL website www.vocalsongwriter.org.

June Showcase: Performers and Word-of-Mouth Needed

The June showcase has not been filled yet! Let's get you on the bill before the year gets away from us! We miss the VOCAL members who turned some of the past showcases into amazing events and we want to get you newer members on stage so we can hear you in the great TapHouse setting!

Monday, June 15, 2009
Richbrau's TapHouse
8:00 - 9:30

Directions: www.vocalsongwriter.org/showcase.html

There is one performer scheduled for July and one for August, so there are options left for these and other performance dates. It's up to you!

If you have another songwriter you'd like to share the bill with or if you have an idea for another format you'd like to present, talk to your fellow songwriters and contact John Ellis, Activities Director, john@virginiaroadsong.com to coordinate the event.

And don't forget to share these e-mails and to tell a friend about the showcase performances. The showcase is free to attend and is an early affair, ending around 9:30.

Also, if you can put a notice on your MySpace calendars, your website calendar or anywhere else on the web, it would be a great help. We would love to fill the TapHouse to capacity each month, so help spread the word!
